W&M Physical Theatre

W&M Physical Theatre was established in 1994 in Poland by Melissa Monteros and Wojciech Mochniej. Until 2001, the company was known as the Gdańsk Dance Theatre. Based on cultural diversity and their personal experience, Monteros and Mochniej developed an individual choreographic language which fuses contemporary dance and physical theatre. Their pieces strike a fine balance between dance and theatre, installations and visual screenings. Most of Monteross and Mochniejs performances address the condition of modern humans.

Although presently based in Calgary, Canada, the W&M Physical Theatre regularly performs in Poland and other European countries. Its works have been presented in Canada, Poland, Austria, Germany, Sweden, Estonia, Finland, France, Italy and Lithuania, among others.
