SIC! International Dance Improvisation Festival (since 2007), lunched by Ilona Trybuła, the artistic director of the festival, is organized by Sonia Nieśpiałowska-Owczarek and Jacek Owczarek’s Kino Tańca Foundation. Each year the festival gathers luminaries of dance improvisation from Poland and from around the world, including Julyen Hamilton, David Zambrano, Magpie Dance Company with Katie Duck, Makiko Ito, Daniel Lepkoff (contact improvisation), Jacek Owczarek and Pracownia Fizyczna, and Warsaw artists – Rafał Dziemidok, Marysia Stokłosa and Dominik Strycharski, who co-created the Melba group. The aim of the festival is to promote various improvised dance techniques by presentation of live performances – in the presence of an audience – and workshops. In 2010 two events dedicated to the art of improvisation, i.e. SIC! and Ad libitum Improvised Music Festival (director: Krzysztof Knittel) were merged for the first time. The combination of the two interpenetrating fields was also present at the edition 2011.
SIC! took place in Wytwórnia Theatre and recently in the Laboratory Hall of the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle. Workshops took place in the Łowicka Culture Centre.
